Iran Beach Soccer cruises to the semi-finals

Iran Beach Soccer team advances to the semi-finals of Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup 2015  for a clash with Russia with a big third period marked by a brilliant hat trick from Ahmadzadeh.

The 5-2 win for Iran over Mexico had its ups and downs for both teams but it ended on an extremely high note for the Asian side. Iran took first blood and were well on their way to a blowout when Mexico turned things around and knotted things up, but Iran was helped by the pro-Iran crowd and drew on their energy and delighted the fans with a great defensive display as well as offensive showcase. The win gives Iran second place in the group and they will be heading to the semi-finals to play Russia in the last game of the day on Friday. The Mexican side were forced to try and come from behind in each match and could not pull off any of the comebacks but they will be playing in the consolation semis on Friday against the UAE.

Iran knew that if they could win their second straight match that they would be advancing to the semis but a very competitive and best team that CONCACAF, king of the confederation, had to offer was in their way. The obstacle for the Lions of the Atlas did not seem as daunting after they calmed their nerves and scored the first goal of the match. But the North American side was entirely in the fight and they hung strong after giving up the goal and going into the last minutes of the period, the score remained 1-0 for Iran. The on-field battles continued and the Tri Color saw their opportunities increase but nothing could be done with them and it was Iran who capitalized again, netting their second and taking that 2-0 lead into the first break. Mexico took the deficit as a challenge and started the second period on a different note and with a chip on their shoulder. The Mexicans hit home a beautiful header in the first minute of the second period, to cut the Iranian lead in half at 2-1. The Mexicans did not stop there and confused the Iran defense when they scored the equalizer, putting the score at 2-2. But then it was Mexico’s turn to get disoriented on defense when Iran scored their third goal on a great bicycle in traffic that someone got through to put the score at 3-2 for the Lions of the Atlas going into the final break.

Iran began the final period by trying desperately to get at least one insurance goal but it did not come in the early going as Mexico was employing their signature tight defense, though that limited their offensive ability at the same time. Iran was knocking on the door but with six minutes gone from the period, there were no goals to show for the effort. However, past the midway point in the frame, M. Ahmadzadeh scored his second goal to give Iran a seemingly safe cushion of two goals at 4-2. Mexico began to rush and looked for the offense that they had lacked thus far, but with the Iranian keeper, Hosseini, between the pipes, it was difficult to find goals, and that has almost always been the case for Iran’s’ opponents. The Iranians held off the Mexican attacks and the final score was 5-2 for Iran.

Goals: 0-1: M. Hassani, min. 9 (1); 0-2: A. Naderi, min. 8 (1); 1-2: G. Pichardo, min. 11 (2); 2-2: A. Villa, min. 8 (2); 2-3: M. Ahmadzadeh, min. 1 (2); 2-4: M. Ahadzadeh, min. 5 (3); 2-5: M. Ahmedzadeh, min. 5 (3).

Iran Beach soccer lose the opener match.

Iran men’s national beach soccer team has suffered its first loss at the group stage of the 2015 Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

On Tuesday evening, Asian powerhouse Iran lost to the strong Tahiti national beach soccer team by two points in its Group B opener played at the International Marine Club in Dubai.

Both teams got off to a fine start, knowing that goals would be hard to come by. Tahitian sportsmen were steady in their offense and defense, fighting through a very competitive Iranian side.

Tahiti’s Tearii Labaste finally jumped at an ideal chance in the third minute of the first period to open the scoring for the South Pacific side.

Heimanu Taiarui doubled the lead for the Tahitian beach soccer team two minutes later, and the world vice champions went into the breather with a two-goal lead.

Tahiti beach soccer team retained the lead and Naea Tommy Irving Bennett scored his first goal four minutes into the second period, putting Tahiti 3-0 ahead.

Tahitians did not relinquish as the game extended into the third and final period. The 38-year-old Bennett took advantage of a marvelous opportunity in the 10th minute of the period, and tacked his second goal to make it 4-0 for Tahiti.

Mohammad Ahmadzadeh of Iran took up a great chance a minute later, and kicked the Persians’ first goal.

Ahmadzadeh made his second goal of the match in the 11th minute of the third period, and turned Iran’s deficit into 4-2 before the referee blew his whistle and called it a day.

In Tuesday’s other games, strong contenders Portugal sank Mexico 5-3, Russia produced an emphatic 5-1 win over Argentina. The United Arab Emirates went down to Egypt 3-2.

The 2015 Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup opened in Dubai, the UAE, on November 3, and will wrap up on November 7.

Argentina, Egypt, Russia and the host nation are in Group A.

Iran has been drawn alongside Mexico, Portugal and Tahiti in Group B of the tournament.

Iran Beach soccer eyes a 1/4 finals berth after defeating Mexico.

Iran held off a spirited Mexican fightback to win their Group C clash 3-2 and close on a place in the knockout stages, eliminating Mexico in the process. Iran stormed into a three-goal lead, with Mohammad Ahmadzadeh and Faroogh Dara’s second period efforts building on Amir Akbari’s first period opener. The Mexicans responded with two second period goals of their own, through Gerardo Gomez and Abdiel Villa, but it was not enough to prevent their side being knocked out.

Peyman Hosseini injury

Akbari, featuring at his third global finals, scored inside the opening two minutes once again, as he had against Brazil in his side’s most recent match. Ahmadzadeh then grabbed his third goal in three games in Espinho with a spectacular overhead kick, before Dara’s fist Beach Soccer World Cup goal since 2007 helped Marco Octavio’s side into a seemingly unassailable lead.

The Mexicans hit back minutes later though through Gomez and Villa, both grabbing their first ever Beach Soccer World Cup goals. Despite applying pressure in the closing stages, the Mexicans could not find the crucial leveller – thanks in part to some spectacular goalkeeping from Peyman Hosseini – and head home without a victory to their name. Iran await the outcome of Brazil’s showdown with Spain later today to see if they have secured their place in the quarter-finals.

If Brazil beats Spain later on , Iran will qualify to meet Tahiti , the surprise group D winner . The pacific nation team defeated Russia 6-7 in a game played after Mexico-Iran match.

Team Melli beach soccer team lose against Brazil.

Brazil’s win, their second of the tournament at Portugal 2015, did not come easily to the four-time champions after Iran had a 3-1 lead in the first period.

Both sides had won their opening matches in Espinho—Brazil defeated Mexico 5-1 and Iran overcame Spain 6-5. The two teams were also drawn in the same group at Tahiti 2013. Brazil won that time around 4-1, but in Espinho, Iran made life much tougher on their South American opposition.

An exciting first period saw a brace by Amir Akbari put Iran ahead twice, Mohammad Ahmadzadeh , Iran’s star scoring a stunning third goal for Team Melli to take a 3-1 lead. However, goals from Bruno Xavier and Bokinha helped Brazil fight back to bring the match level by the end of the period.

The Brazilians reach closer to the quarter-finals, although they are not formally through. All four teams in Group C still have a chance of advancing to the last-eight.

The final match for Team Melli on Tuesday should seal its qualification to the next round although a win by Spain against Brazil , might complicate the issue.

Iran in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015.

The road to Portugal
Reigning champions Iran sealed top spot in Group D at the 2015 AFC Beach Soccer Championship ahead of Lebanon and Thailand, before sweeping aside United Arab Emirates 6-1 in the quarter-finals. The team, coached by Brazilian tactician Marco Octavio, met their match in the next round, however, missing out on a place in the final after losing to Japan. That left them needing victory in the match for third place to book progress to Portugal 2015, and a commanding 8-3 defeat of Lebanon promptly assured them of a sixth appearance at the global showcase.

Strengths and style
Iran can pride themselves on a supremely effective array of attacking talents, led by the gifted Mohammad Ahmadzadeh. His team’s top scorer at Tahiti 2013, Ahmadzadeh helped himself to seven goals in the AFC Championship, including four against Lebanon in the match for third place. Further back, Seyed Peyman Hosseini was voted best goalkeeper at the continental finals, while captain Hossein Naderi is a solid defender capable of powerful strikes from distance.

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup record
Iran have made major strides in beach soccer over the last few years, most notably winning the Asian title in 2013. They will be embarking on their sixth World Cup campaign in Portugal and will attempt to fare better than in 2013, when they succumbed 6-5 to eventual champions Russia in the quarter-finals.

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015.

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 begins this Thursday, which is the eighth edition of the global showpiece. Sixteen teams from around the world will play a total of 32 matches at the 3,300 capacity Estadio da Praia da Baia in Espinho.

FIFA.com marks your card for the tournament by providing the answers to five key questions.

Are Russia the team to beat?
No question. The defending champions will arrive in Espinho with ten of the 12 players who secured their second consecutive world title at Tahiti 2013, where they took their unbeaten run in the competition to 12 matches. The Russians can be expected once again to show all the hunger that has made them the best team in the world. Having just won European Games gold in Baku – despite losing one of their group matches – they will not be lacking in confidence. “I hope we’ll do no worse than in the last two World Cups,” said Russia coach Mikhail Likhachev. “Russia are among the favourites for this tournament, but we’re not the only favourites.”

Which other teams are in the running for the title?
While the list of contenders has grown in recent years, it is hard to look past four-time winners Brazil as the team next most likely to triumph after Russia. Also in the mix are three European teams possessing the blend of youth and experience needed to become world champions: Spain, the runners-up at Tahiti 2013 and the 2014 Euro Beach Soccer Cup winners; Italy, the only side to beat Russia in Baku; and Switzerland, who still have several members of the side that finished second at Dubai 2009 in their ranks. And let’s not forget tournament hosts Portugal.

Can Portugal handle the pressure of playing on home sand?
Judging by the quality of players at their disposal, the Portuguese should be able to cope with the expectation that comes with playing in front of one’s own fans. Between them, Madjer, Alan and Belchior have racked up 96 Beach Soccer World Cup matches and 140 goals, and possess the experience needed to harness pressure and turn it into something positive.

“The fans are our 11th player and there’s no doubt they’re going to give us a huge boost,” said Madjer in a recent interview with FIFA.com. “The sport’s getting more and more popular and people are sitting up and taking notice of it. All we have to do is repay that by having success on the sand.”

The fact is, however, that Brazil remain the only host nation ever to have won the world title, though it should be remembered that they failed to do so on their first attempt in 2005, when Portugal beat them in the semi-finals. Since Brazil’s last win on home sand in Rio de Janeiro in 2007, the host nations have found success hard to come by in the Beach Soccer World Cup. Both France at Marseille 2008 and Italy at Ravenna 2011 failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals, while United Arab Emirates went out in the group phase at Dubai 2009. In finishing fourth in 2013, however, Tahiti exceeded all expectations.

Are there likely to be any shocks?
Yes. Japan surprised everyone by reaching the last four in 2005, while few tipped Uruguay to reach the 2006 final and even fewer expected to see Mexico there in 2007. The fourth places achieved by El Salvador in 2009 and the Tahitians two years ago also came out of the blue. Those unlikely achievements will only fire the dreams of the sides hoping to cause an upset or two this time around.

Among them are Iran, who will be coached for a third time by Marco Octavio. Speaking recently to FIFA.com, he was bullish about their prospects in Portugal: “We have to try and win the title. We are a strong team, as we’ve shown in the past. We reached the quarter-finals at the last World Cup, where we went down fighting to world champions Russia. After the world finals we then went on to beat Russia and Brazil, and we’ll need to be ready to figure among the title contenders this time.”

Team Melli will do well to cause a splash this time, having been drawn in the toughest group of all, alongside Brazil, Spain and Mexico. Senegal, Paraguay and Costa Rica have similarly lofty ambitions. On duty at Dubai 2009, when the Costa Ricans lost their three group games, Tico striker Greivin Pacheco is confident they can fare better this time, despite being drawn in a daunting group with Italy, Switzerland and Oman. “It’s difficult but not impossible,” he told FIFA.com. “We don’t want to go over there just being happy to take part again. We need to aim to make history.”

Who will be the stars of the tournament?
Beach soccer mega-stars Madjer, Bruno Xavier and Andrey Bukhlitskiy are just some of the players who have been lighting up the game for years now and are sure to be doing so again in Espinho. Less well-known but just as consistent on the big stage are the likes of Iran’s Mohammad Ahmadzadeh, Italy’s Paolo Palmacci and the Argentinian Luciano Franceschini.

Meanwhile, Portugal 2015 will see a clutch of hotly tipped young talents step out into the global spotlight, among them Spain’s Llorenc, Datinha of Brazil, Ozu of Japan, Tahiti’s Raimana Li Fung Kuee, Babacar Fall of Senegal and the Paraguayan Ruben Moran.

Iran Qualifies for the FIFA 2015 Beach Soccer Finals in Portugal

Iran’s Beach soccer team defeated Lebanon 5-0 in the third place play off to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer Championship in Portugal

Iran opened the scoring in the 1st period Mohammad Moradi  scored after his shoot was deflected off a Lebanon player  1-0.
Mohammad Ali Mokhtari made it 2-0 from a close range header. In the second period Capt Ali Naderi scored Iran’s third from a trademark volley 3-0 and then Mohammad Ahmadzadeh  repeated Naderi’s artistic volley when he was fed with a neat pass to volley into Lebanon’s net 4-0.
When Lebanon looked dead and buried halfway through the second period , Lebanon’s keeper Mohammed Choker  beat Peyman Yousefi from a long-range free kick 4-1 to give Lebanon some life line.
Haytham Fattal 4-2  reduce the deficit for Lebanon when he scored from a free kick.

Seconds later , Mohammad Ahmadzadeh  scored Iran’s and his own personal fifth goal of the tournament to make it 5-2

in the third period
Mohammaed Merri scored for Lebanon 5-3 while Mohammad Ahmadzadeh scored his hat trick from a free kick 6-3. Lebanon’s top scorer Haytham Fattal denied Ali Naderi a scoring opportunity for which he was red carded , Naderi scoring from the penalty 7-3.
Mohammad Ahmadzadeh sealed the match with goal from a rebounded ball 8-3.

Iran team was very much in command and control of the game and never really looked in danger of losing the grip. Despite the supremacy of Iran through out the match, the gallant Lebanese team refused to go down easily and played a hard match and giving it their best shot. Mohammad Choker in goal was impressive as was  Haytham Fattal a player to watch in Beach Soccer.

For Iran , it was heartbreak loss to japan but very much a deserved qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Japan plays Oman in the Final match to decide the winner.

Beach Soccer: Iran lose against Portugal

Defending champion Iran lost to Portugal in the 2014 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup on Tuesday. The match played at the custom-built sand pitch at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) was the second for Iran after the opening day win against host UAE , which Iran won 2-1

Portugal rode on a double from skipper Joao Vitor Madjer to secure an exciting 4-2 win against defending champions Iran.

After a barren first period, it was Madjer who gave the Europeans the lead in the fourth minute following a superb move with Nuno Belchior. But Iran responded superbly with Mohammad Ahmadzadeh coming up with two lovely strikes in as many minutes to lead for the first time at the end of the second period.

Portugal returned with fresh ideas in the final period and it was Nuno Belchior who nudged a Madjer pass for the equalizer in the very first minute. Madjer came up with a lovely overhead kick to restore Portugal’s lead, and three minutes later goalkeeper Seyed Peyman Hosseinilargani watched in horror as a Belchior attempt strayed past his reach.

Iran’s last group game is against Morocco at 20:00 UAE time. Iran needs a win to secure a place in the next round.

Beach Soccer: Iran outlast Senegal amid goal-rush

Iran revived their Tahiti 2013 hopes with an action-packed 5-3 victory over Senegal to leave Group C intriguingly poised.

Senegal scored a powerful 5-4 win over Ukraine to open their Tahiti 2013 campaign two days ago, while the west Asians knew their tournament ambitions were on the line having fallen to a 4-1 defeat to Brazil.

Iran made the perfect start with Mohammad Ahmadzadeh scoring in the second minute. Senegal thought they had equalised from the ensuing kick-off only for the goal to be ruled out by the match officials.

It was to be double anguish for Senegal soon after as Ahmadzadeh doubled the advantage with a flicked header to give Iran a 2-0 lead by the third minute mark.

It could have soon been a three-goal margin as Farid Boulobashi came within inches of perhaps the most spectacular goal of the tournament but his athletic volley crashed off the underside of the goal and onto the line.

Senegal hit the frame of the goal after the restart, and captain Ngalla Sylla halved the margin soon after.

Incredibly they equalised almost immediately with goalkeeper Peyman Hosseini conceding an own goal, only for Amir Akbari to score virtually from the kick-off for a third goal within 30 seconds.

Ahmadzadeh nabbed his second before the end of the middle period as Iran made it 4-2 for a handy advantage.

Senegal pushed hard in the dying period of a torrid encounter and came within inches of scoring on several occasions, before Sylla rocketed home a third.

But still the scoring was not over as Boulobashi netted with a sweet strike midway through the final period.
