Iran Beach Soccer Team, made history by lifting the Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer 2018 Trophy in Dubai after beating Russia 4-2 in the final on Saturday.

The atmosphere  of the packed stands in the Kite Beach in Jumeirah was electrifying as both the Iranian and Russian fans made themselves heard even before the start of the match. for both sets of fans livened up the proceedings at the 3,500-seater, state of the art stadium with drum beats and horns.

Iran were 3-0 ahead in the first period as the Russians were stunned by the wave after wave of Iranian offensive moves. By the third period, Russia managed to pull 1 goal back to make it 3-1 but Iran scored again to make it 4-1

Russia, quite fatigued from yesterdays marathon and difficult win in the semi-final but s yet still determined to make a game of it against Iran, pulled one more goal back in the 3rd period to make it 4-2. After the Russian goal, they attacked in force but they were open for Iranian counter attack of which many chances were missed to increase Iran’s tally of goals.

At the end of the action-packed 36 minutes , it did not matter as the two goal victory margin was maintained by Iran until the end to win their second Intercontinental Beach Soccer  Trophy after 2013. Ahmadzadeh lifted the cup as the players and Iranian fans rejoiced.

For the Asian champions and winners of the 2013 competition, it was the second win against Russia and the only unbeaten team in the tournament.

The match in Dubai , was between two semi-finals losers as Iran narrowly lost the match to the World Champions Brazil , while the same story was repeated when Portugal surprised Russia in the other semi-final 3-2.

In the third place playoff, the Iranian men took revenge for the  group match loss which ended 4-3 for the Russian in extra time. The winning Russian goal was scored by Iran’s own player for a bitter & disappointing end.

IN this match Russia started the scoring in the 2nd period after an eventless first period.  However, Iran’s reserve goalkeeper Hamid Behzadpour equalized from a long-range shot into the Russian net. Soon Iran went ahead 2-1 when Mohammad Ahmadzadeh scored his 29th goal in this tournament.

Mohammad Moradi made it  3-1 and Iran was sailing , Romanov scored Russia’s second goal to make it 3-2 and a nervous few minutes for the Persians.

Glory for Iran Beach Soccer

  • Iran’s third-place finish is best ever for Asian Football Confederation
  • Italy finishes in fourth place for second consecutive FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup
  • Gabriele Gori scores the most goals in a single tournament since Madjer in 2006

Iran ended their Bahamas 2017 campaign on a high with a 5-3 win against Italy in the play-off for third place to become Asia’s highest ever finishers at the Beach Soccer World Cup.

These two teams met during the group stage at Bahamas 2017 with Italy edging Iran 5-4 in a thrilling match. The Europeans scored first that day, but it was Iran’s turn this time. Mohammad Ahmadzadeh scored his seventh goal of the tournament when he put away a second-chance opportunity after Moslem Mesigar’s shot was parried into his path.

Ahmadzadeh scored his second of the match early in the second period on another second-chance opportunity to take his overall tally to eight.

Mohammad Mokhtari then struck a phenomenal overhead kick to give Iran a three-goal cushion, which was fitting as Iran have attempted the most overhead kicks of anyone in the Bahamas.

Italy got back into the match courtesy of none other than Gabriele Gori. Two goals took him on to 17 – the second a curling effort from a set piece – to move him beyond Dejan Stankovic into second place for biggest hauls at a single competition. Less than a minute later, Mesigar scored his second of the tournament.

Dario Ramacciotti brought the Azzurri back to within one goal with a well-placed, close range header. But it wasn’t enough for the Italians as Ahmadzadeh completed his hat-trick with a late penalty to ultimately seal Iran’s place in the record books.

The country’s all-time top scorer in the tournament Dejan Stankovic started their resurgence with a flicked finish. Glenn Hodel then scored a pair of goals to give the Swiss a one-goal lead.

Iran will now face Tahiti in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Four-time champions Brazil needed a stunning overhead kick in the final two minutes of the match to see them edge past champions Portugal.

Portugal 2015 runners-up Tahiti had to work hard against Paraguay, but late strikes from Heiarii Tavanae and Patrick Tepa helped seal their progression to Saturday’s semi-finals.

Italy’s 5-1 win over Senegal was the most dominant performance of the evening. Coach Massimo Agostini’s side were boosted b top scorer Gabriele Gori (14), who appears as if he’ll never stop scoring in the Bahamas.

Iran crowned 2017 AFC Beach Soccer Champions

Kuala Terengganu: Islamic Republic of Iran were crowned AFC Beach Soccer Championship Malaysia 2017 champions on Saturday after beating the United Arab Emirates 7-2 in Kuala Terengganu.

The UAE’s Haitham Mohamed opened the match with an impressive effort which Iran goalkeeper Seyed Hosseini saved well, but it was to be Iran who would draw first blood, Moslem Mesigar tapping home from close range to hand his side an early lead.

Clearly boosted by their goal, Iran immediately doubled their advantage through Hosseini’s impressive strike, before Iran skipper Mohammad Ahmadzadeh’s fired a volley just inches wide.

With the UAE failing to make an impression, Iran struck again as Mohammadali Mokhtari’s penalty rounded off a fine first period for the Iranians.

Kamal Ali then went close with a volley as the Emiratis tried to rally. However worse was to come for them as Mesigar’s cool header found the net with keeper Humaid Jamal rooted to the spot.

It was to be Jamal who eventually dragged the UAE back into the game with an impressive finish four minutes from time, a brief glimmer of hope that shone even brighter when Haitham Mohamed scored following neat approach play.

It was, however, not to be for the UAE, as an accurate Seyed Nazem free-kick, followed by Amir Akbari’s volley and a Mokhtari penalty sealed a win – and the title – for the Iranians.

Islamic Republic of Iran booked a date against the United Arab Emirates in the AFC Beach Soccer Championship Malaysia 2017 final and also a place at the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas after beating Japan 8-6 in Kuala Terengganu on Friday.

The Japanese will now play Lebanon in the tournament’s third-place Play-off for Asia’s final slot in the Bahamas. Both the Play-off and the final will take place on Saturday.

Japan drew first blood through Takasuke Goto’s neat header, but Iran equalised soon after thanks to a fine strike by skipper Mohammad Ahmadzadeh.

A succession of Iranian attacks then tested Japan’s resolve, the pick of which was a header by Hassan Abdollahi which hit the woodwork.

However, it was Japan who were to regain the lead as Takuya Akaguma struck home from distance after catching custodian Hamid Behzadpour unawares, before Moslem Mesigar delivered a free-kick which skipped off the sand and into the goal to level matters for a second time.

Japan scored a third courtesy of Takaaki Oba, only for Mohammadali Mokhtari to make it 3-3 at the end of an entertaining first period.

Japan duly made it 4-3 following skipper Ozu Moreira’s magnificent free-kick a minute into the second period. Not to be outdone, Iran hit back yet again, Abdollahi’s set-piece striking the post before going in to continue the game’s roller-coaster nature.

Iran went ahead for the first time when Mokhtari claimed his second in the match a minute before the buzzer, and they duly increased their advantage as Ahmadzadeh fired home to double his tally after the restart.

Akaguma then reduced the deficit with an impressive volley, only for Iran to score yet again through Abdollahi and – despite Goto giving Japanese hopes a brief lift with a late effort – secure a hard-fought victory.

Iran Beach soccer storms into the semi-finals

Kuala Terengganu:

Iran’s 5-2 win over Bahrain and Japan finishing as the best second-placed side in the AFC Beach Soccer Championship Malaysia 2017 Group Stage completed the lineup for the semi-finals which will take place in Kuala Terengganu on Friday.

Iran’s fourth straight victory against the Bahrainis in Group A on Wednesday booked their semi-final match against Japan, who earlier lost to eventual Group C winners the United Arab Emirates 5-4.

The UAE will in the other semi-final play surprise package Lebanon who handed defending champions Oman a 4-3 upset in Group B’s last game.

Bahrain strongly opened the account through a hard strike by Abdulla Al Abdulla during a melee on four minutes before keeper Sayed Abbas delivered an impressive strike from his post into Iran’s goal to double their advantage.

Iran then almost cut the deficit when a Mohammadali Mokhtari volley hit the bar and then cut the deficit they did when skipper Mohammad Ahmadzadeh struck home a free-kick before the buzzer.

It is then Iran’s turn to make the keeper’s goal through Saleh Mohamed’s unstoppable strike from his area at the restart before Iran took over the lead with Ahmadzadeh’s second after a neat interplay.

Al Abdulla then came close to Bahrain’s third but his header went sailing before Iran added to their tally with a beautiful Seyed Nazem volley.

Iran keeper Syed Hosseini then gave Bahrain a scare as his end-to-end throw caught his opposite number unawares but it hit the woodwork as the second period ended.

The top three finishers at the AFC Beach Soccer Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in in Nassau, Bahamas from April 27 to May 7.
