Thailand futsal overpowers Iran

Iran’s Futsal Melli team lost to its nemesis Thailand 7-5 in the four nations tournament  in that match played today Sunday in Bangkok.

Iran’s goals were scored by Ahmad Esmaeilpour, Farhad Tavakoli, Mohammadreza Sang-Safidi , Mehdi Javid and Mehran A’lighadr.

On Saturday evening, Team Melli  futsal team was held to a 3-3 draw in the first match against Kazakhstan , which serves as a warm-up for the 2016 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Futsal World Cup in Colombia later this month.

“Kazakhstan is among decent futsal teams in the world, so it will be so helpful and advantageous for our players to face such squads. We played a tough game. The opposite side had earlier eliminated Italy national futsal tyeam in Euroean games.

“Kazakhstan national futsal team is in a fairly great form. Although the match ended in 3-3 draw, it was a good litmus test for our futsal players,” Ali Sanei, technical coordinator at the Iran futsal team, said after the match.

The four-nation tournament in Thailand started on August 18, and will conclude on August 23, 2016.

The 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup will be the 8th edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup. The tournament will be held in Colombia between September 10 and October 1.

Iran has been drawn alongside Azerbaijan, Morocco and Spian in Group F of the forthcoming sports event.

The Colombian hosts, Panama, Portugal and Uzbekistan form Group A, while Cuba, Egypt, Russia and Thailand form Group B.

Guatemala, Italy, Paraguay and Vietnam are put in Group C. Group D consists of Australia, Brazil, Mozambique and Ukraine.

Argentina, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and the Solomon Islands shape Group E.

FARHAD TAVAKOLI NAMED MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Bangkok: Farhad Tavakoli of NAFIT Al-Wasat claimed the AFC Futsal Club Championship’s Most Valuable Player award despite the Iraqi side suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Japan’s Nagoya Oceans in the final at Bangkok Arena on Saturday.

Iranian Tavakoli scored a first-half equaliser before also netting from the spot after the finalists had played out an action packed 4-4 draw in the title showdown.

The number 13 scored three goals in five matches in the continental competition and, along with Iranian compatriot Ghodrat Bahadori, was instrumental in NAFIT’s march to a first ever final.

“I’m happy to win this award, but the trophy is for all the players, not just me,” said Tavakoli, who was part of the Iran side that won the AFC Futsal Championship in Uzbekistan earlier in the year.

“After Tasisat went out, I felt myself and Ghodrat Bahadori were representing Iran and we tried our best.”

Tavakoli scored his first of the tournament in the 5-1 Group C win over China’s Dalian Yuan Dynasty that saw the 2015 semi-finalists progress to the knockout stage as table-toppers.

The Iranian then starred without scoring in the 2-1 quarter-final victory over Qatar’s Al-Sadd, before netting from inside his own half during a Chonburi Bluewave power-play in extra time in the semi-final as NAFIT eliminated the hosts 4-1.

His strike in the final levelled the tie up at 2-2 and was one of the goals of the tournament after he finished from close in following a wonderful give-and-go with Waleed Khalid.

“This is the first time we have been in the final and we had less experience than them,” added Tavakoli. “I think their experience helped them but that we were the better team.”

Shamsaei thanks God

Tasisat Daryaei Iran’s representative and defending Asian club champions, were knocked out by Nagoya Oceans in the quarter finals. Vahid Shamsaei has just announced his resignation from Tasisat following the disappointing result in Bangkok. Shamsaei was the player-Manager of Tasisat during the championship held in Thailand.

Iran Futsal to the final after a bone crushing defeat of Vietnam.

Futsal Team Melli reached the final of the AFC Futsal Championship 2016 with a commanding win against surprise semi-finalist Vietnam. Iran’s 13-1 win was one of the biggest semi final margins in the history of the competition. The first half ended 7-1 for Team Melli.

Vietnam paid the price of naivety of their coach. Their quarter-final win against defending champion Japan, led to unrealistic , though legitimate belief in the team that they can conquer Iran.

However, It was clear from the first few minutes of the match that Vietnam cannot match Team Melli for skills and technique.

In the pre-match press conference , the ambitious Spanish coach Bruno Formoso said his team was looking beyond Iran and into the final. However, he failed to analyse the opposition properly and his plans went tragically wrong as his team was 3-0 down in less than 9 minutes in the 1st half. The major mistake was playing offensively against Iran and trying to match them for ball possession and attack.

Mahdi Javid opened the scoring for Iran before Farhad Tavakoli scored two quick goals to put Team Melli comfortably 3-0 ahead.

After the 3rd goal, Vietnam coach asked for a time out where he decided to play with all players in the filed ( 5 -0)  to score at least one goal against the mighty Iranians. Again , Vietnam players simply could not match the Iranians.

Despite the fact that Iran’s coach was revolving and playing all his squad, Nazim AlSharia  mainly used the reserve restig the likes of Taheri, Tayebi, Hassanzadeh and Keshavarz.

Vietnam brave resistance fell apart in the second half as Ahmadi , Hossein Tayebi , Mahdi Javid and Tavakoli  (scoring  his 4 goals) , Keshavarz  added another 6 goals in the second half for Team Melli.  Vietnam could not add to that solitary goal scored in the first half.

Iran’s injured Captain Mohammed Keshavarz , returned to the team and played the last 10 minutes helping himself to two goals in the process.

Iran will be meeting Uzbekistan in the Finals for a repeat of the for 2010 championship edition when the mighty Iranians defeated the host 8-3 in front of the passionate Uzbek fans.

Iran futsal loses to Colombia in Grand Prix 2014

Futsal Team Melli wasted a great chance of reaching the final of the 2014 Futsal Grand Prix in Brazil when they lost a tight match 3-4 to Colombia earlier today.

An elementary defensive mistake led the Colombians robbing the ball from Iran’s defense for Toro to put Colombia ahead 1-0. Hassanzadeh then equalized for Iran with a brilliant effort to make it 1-1.

Acosta restored Colombia’s lead courtesy of some good work on the right flank with the Colombian player skillfully dribbling past his marker and sending a diagonal ball for Acosta to score with an acute angle.

The first half finished 2-1 for Colombia.

The South Americans quickly scored in the second half with Iran’s defense really found wanting with Yeffri easily passing his marker and scoring past Samimi much like the second goal.

It was 3-1 for Colombia and a shock went through Team Melli system

Iran bounced back quite instantly. From the kick off after the Colombian goal, Tavakoli scored from an excellent assist by Hassanzadeh to make it. 3-2. Tavokali’s goal increase inspired Iran who took the game from the Colombians.

Hassanzadeh turned from provider to scorer on a role reversal from the previous goal. Tavokali took a corner kick which the Colombian keeper could only parry with his palm for Hassanzadeh to meet it and smash the equalizer from close range. The match was tied at 3-3 and it was in balance.

Then one of the weirdest of goals seals the match.

Colombian keeper kicked a ball towards Iran’s empty goal, but the goal hit the post to ricochet for Yeffri who raced towards Iran’s goal  to smash home the winner for Colombia.

It was a tight and exciting match, with the Colombians fully deserving the victory. Team Melli’s shortcoming was the feeble marking with two of the goals scored by the Latin Americans were because of poor marking and players being easily dribbled.

Iran will now meet Guatemala for the 3rd place play off. In the Group Match , Iran defeated Guatemala 7-2.

Brazil will meet Colombia in the final , a repeat of their group 1 match which ended 4-0 to the host.
