During the Asian Cup tournament in the UAE, where Jahanbaksh was impressive and one of the best players, the coach and the scout of the NEC team took an immediate liking to him and soon found himself playing for the Dutch league team.

Made his debut with Team Melli under Queiroz after he joined NEC. Jahanbakhsh scored in his second match against Thailand in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifying rounds when he came in as a substitute.
