Iran’s Omid Team (U23) defeated Australia U23 in a friendly international at the Al Duhail Stadium in Doha.

In the first half, Iran was leading 2-0 with goals from Ali Shojaei in the 4th minute and Aref Aghasi on the 25th. In the second half Australia narrowed the deficit with a penalty at the beginning of the second half scored by Panos Armenakas.

Meraj Esmaeili saved several scoring opportunities including a one on one by the Australian forward.

The Australian team had Daneil Arzani , the Iranian-Australian player in the lineup.
