When the Sarbaz team was disbanded in 1949, Khatami transferred to Taj, where he played until the end of his football career in 1952. Khatami won the Tehran Clubs Cup championship twice with Taj, in the 1949 and 1952 seasons. He was selected for Team Melli (the Iranian national team) in 1947 and made his debut against Turkey in a friendly match at Amjadieha Stadium on October 26, 1947.
