Mehdi Ghayedi a tiny, skillful, and pacy player in the mold of Khodadad Azizi. played his football in Bushehr. His career at the youth level was spent with Iranjavan Bushehr.
Joined Esteghlal in June 2017. At the start of the season, he was subjected to a ban as a result of Esteghlal , coached by Alireza Mansourian refusing to relase the player and two of his teammates, Noorafkan and Majis Hosseini for the Iran U23 team duty.
Tha ban was lifted on 29th July.
Selected by Dragan Skocic for the Team Melli squad and made his debut in October 2020 against Uzbekistan.
On 29 January 2018, Ghayedi was involved in a serious car crash in his hometown Bushehr along with two other occupants one of whom died a few days later. Ghayedi went through surgery due to his Spleen being damaged by trauma and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
On 23 August 2021, Ghayedi transferred to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai on a five-year contract
Youth
Ghayedi was selected to join Iran under-20 to take part in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, under manager Amir Hossein Peyrovani. He made his tournament debut against Zambia and played for 18 minutes in Iran's 4ā€“2 defeat. He also played for a few minutes against Portugal as Iran lost the match and was knocked out of the competition.

Ghaedi's first major appearance at the international level was in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 in Qatar where Team Melli narrowly lost the semi-final match to the eventual winner and host, Qatar.
