Reza Ghofsaz was born in Ahvaz and later moved to Tehran.
he was selected for the Iran youth team by Head coach Rykov. The team participated in the Asian Youth Championship in Thailand 1969 achieving the third place.
Ghoflsaz was then selected for Team Melli that was preparing for the RCD cup , without being affiliated to any clubs! However , the Khuzestani player returned home from Tehran and missed the opportunity to play for the senior team.
In 1972 Ghoflsaz again represents Iran at Youth level in Manila , Philippines.
Ghogflsaz has a unique record in Iran. He has kept a clean sheet for a total of 794 minutes.
His opportunities to play was limited ion Team Melli as he was competing with the best generation of Iranian keeper of the time like Hejazi, Movadat and Rashidi.
