The first player to score for Iran in the World Cup.
Danaei Fard , the son of another famous Iranian footballer and coach ,Ali only made his debut for Team Melli in the qualification rounds of the FIFA World Cup 1978 in the match against Saudi Arabia. He was a late starter for Team Melli , however , he was quite impressive in the league.
Selected by Heshmat Mohajerani for the squad that left to Argentina. He scored Iran's first goal in the World Cup against Scotland when he dribbled past Archie Gemmell on the right flank and scored from an acute angle to record the first goal for Iran and also the first point in the World Cup.
After the World Cup , Iraj joined the NASL team Tulsa Roughnecks were he played until the league folded.
Iraj died on 12th December 2018 age 67 in Shiraz's Namazi hospital as result of kidney failure.
