The younger of the two Bayani brothers who played in Team Melli at the same period. A solid defender with Esteghlal Tehran.
Shahin Bayani's most dramatic moment came against Saudi Arabia in the 1984 Asian Cup Semi-Final match. His brother Shahroukh had already scored a goal and Team Melli was leading 1-0 , as Team Melli were seconds away from reaching the Asian Cup Finals, when Shahin scored an own goal right at the end in injury time, to give the Saudis the equalizer that their players could not get.
Saudi Arabia went on to the finals after beating Iran in penalty kicks.
He was among the 14 players who resigned from Team Melli during the 1986 Asian Games in protest against the national team's coaching staff. He returned to the national team in July 1990 at the invitation of Ali Parvin.
