Asgarkhani played for Shoa's Tehran
later, then played for Perspolis club from 1968-71, before moving to Abo Moslem Khorasan.
It was in Mashahd that Asgarkhani made his name. A series of brilliant displays in the Takht Jamshid league which prompted the Team Melli selectors to call him for duty.
Unfortunately for Asgarkhani , the competition for places was extremely stiff with Iran enjoying a group of top class keepers in that era including Hejazi, Rasheedi , Movadat and Raghfar to name a few. HE made a single appearance for Team Melli.
Asgarkhani also played professionally outside Iran when he joined the Kuwait Club AlSalmiya and played two seasons from 1972 to 1974.
