One of the legendary goalkeepers of Iranain football on part with the likes of hejazi and Aziz Asli. Abedzadeh started his football career in Esfahan after moving from his birth place Abadan. Hw played Futsal before shifting to football. One of the few Iraninan players that have played for the two rivals Esteghlal F.C., and Persepolis where he started his professional career and then transfered to Persepolis.
His reflexes and skills in defending his net was instrumental in the success of Team Melli qualifying for the World Cup 1998. Despite his pivotal role , Abedzadeh was injured at the start of the tournament and was absent for the first game against Yugoslavia were Team Melli lost 1-0. However , he was one of the heroes of the historical victory of Team Melli against the United States in Lyonne.
Abedzadeh suffered a severe stroke in 2002. While he was hospitalized and under treatment , large crowds set up vigilance to pray for him to recover. He was released some weeks later, but required a number of surgeries after, and even to this day, he has side effects from his stroke.
On January 13, 2006, Abedzadeh had his farewell game, playing for Iranian giants and his former club Persepolis FC in a friendly match against Bayern Munich.
