The classy defender who played for Taj Club joined them from Rah Ahan. Nicknamed Barbed Wire. Kargarjam grew up close to Taj club and joined them as a youth player. He suffered a serious injury playing and broke his ankle in a game that injury caused him to stop playing football for a full three years. After returning to the sport, he joined Rah Ahan club, where he developed his skills and was a target of many clubs. Kargarjam rejoined Taj in 1969.
His progress in Taj was eye-catching as two seasons later he was selected to Team Melli where he made his debut against South Korea. Kargarjam won the Asian Clubs Championship in 1970 and the League title(Takht Jamshid) in the 1974/75 season.
He was invited to Team Melli in 1971 and made his debut against the Korea Republic on the 10th of September 1971.
Kargarjam made his mark in the 1972 Olympic Games qualifiers and was a starter for the AFC Asian Cup in Thailand. Iran went on to win the title for the second time with Kargarjam being part of the squad playing in 3 matches.
He played in the Olympic Games football tournament in Germany and the Taça Independência (Brazil Independence Cup) all in 1972.
