Ebrahim Ashtiani played for the foundation teams of Shahin and was discovered by Abbas Ekrami who invited him to play with the seniors in 1964.
In 1967 while playing a for his team Shahin a league match against Tehran Javan, Ashtiani received a red card the consequence of which a disruption occurred in that match leading to skirmishes between players and officials.
As a result, the authorities issued an order suspending Shahin club from all sport activities.
1n 1968 Ashtiani Joined Persepolis.
Ashtiani was first invited to Team Melli in 1969 by Zdravko Rajkov to play against Pakistan & Turkey in the OCD Cup.
In 1972 , Ashtiani lifted the Asian Cup in Bangkok with Team Melli, while in the same year he was a member of Iran's Olympic Football teams that qualified for Munich Olympics.
Ashtiani biggest disappointment was the Team Melli inability to make the 1974 World Cup with the a one goal margin.
In 1974 n and still 29 years old, Ashtiani decided to hang his boot and nbid farewell to Team Melli. His last match was against South Korea.
Ebrahim Ashtiani Passed away in Tehran on Tuesday 24th-Oct-2017 at the age of75 years
