Namdar joined the renowned Tehran club Shahin in 1953. He is a defender. He soon became a key player for his team and was included in the Tehran Select XI which played several foreign teams. in 1955, Namdar moved to the Taj team.
He made his debut for Team Melli against Israel in the qualification rounds of the Asian Nations Cup 1960 being played in Kerala, India. He was also in the squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964.
He went on to become an international referee and is considered the first Iranian to whistle in the World Cup in 1974. Namdar died on 1 January 2014 at the age of 79
