Tuesday, March 14, 1972 The first match at the Amjadieh Stadium of Tehran between Cruzeiro and the Tehran team was selected by the Iranian national team coach Mohammad Ranjbar. The pitch was a mixture of sand and grass but mostly the former, which did not suit the visitors at all. For that reason,it was obvious thet the Brazilians avoided playing their full effort game fearing being injured and were content to allow Iran to have the better of the balls.
The Brazilians scored first late in the first half by Roberto who slotted his ball out of reach of the extended arms of Hejazi.
IN the second half , Iran responded and equalized through their prolific scorer Gholamhossein Mazloomi from a fine assist by Hossein Kalani. IN the rest of the match, despite some efforts from the visiting team, Iran had most of the ball and could have won the game late on. On the other hand, the Iranian defense was solid against all of Cruzeiro attacks.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16416″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow”][vc_single_image image=”16420″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
