The 15th Asian Games, officially known as the XV Asiad, is Asia’s Olympic-style sporting event that was held in Doha, Qatar from December 1 to December 15, 2006.Football was one of the 46 disciplines from 39 events scheduled to be contested. It was the first time that all 45 member nations of the Olympic Council of Asia took part in this event. Similar to the Olympic Football rules , Asian Games Football competition is restricted to U 23 players with the exception of three over age players.
Iran participated in the football competition and managed to win the Bronze medal after defeating Korea Republic 1-0 in the third place play-off match.
